North East Lincolnshire (Notts/S.Yorks) Event Report

Enthusiasts from at least 6 different forums or clubs attended the Elsham Hall Event in mix of cars. In no particular order and from the groups I talked to, we met people from Retro Renault, Renault Online, Renaultsport, Renault Owners Club, Renault Freres, Renault Classic Car Club and Megane Coupe. The cars ranged from Clios, Meganes, 19s, a rare 11 Boston, Grand Scenic, Laguna and Modus and a 4CV. Also a peacock that seemed to object to seeing itself in the chrome and assumed it was a male to battle with.

A full report will be in the magazine but there are a few taster photos here.

For the next one we have had 3 suggestions of Clumber Park and one of a barbeque in Derby. We'll canvas opinions. The barbeque is already arranged which may be the decider. It will be a bring your own food though! Also an offer of a Vel Satis 2003 2.2 DCI for Sale £1,595

Elsham Hall

15th May 11.00AM-16.00 - This Event is open to anyone with an interest in Renault whether a club member or not.

Directions Elsham is situated just two miles from the M180/A180 interchange at Barnetby Top (M180, Jct 5) and only three miles from the railway station in Barnetby. It is just eight miles south of the Humber Bridge and 3 miles north west of Humberside International Airport. It is easiest to come off at Junction 4 and drive through the Market Town of Brigg and take the turn between Brigg and Barnetby but if you miss it, Junction 5 can also be taken (a busier roundabout).

Elsham Hall is approximately 40 Minutes from Sheffield, Lincoln, Hull and Doncaster. 70 Minutes from Leeds, Skegness and Nottingham, all drivable on Motorways or Good A-Roads.

Facilities on site include:

The Garden Cafe Open during park hours for drinks and light refreshments

Animal Farm Come and see animals and pets.

Working Blacksmith On Sundays and Bank Holidays, and a small farming museum.

Wrawby Moor Art Gallery A converted shire horse stable promoting contemporary art.

Gift Shop There is a shop for souvenirs and ice-creams.

Admission Charges: Adults £5.50 Children £4.50 OAPS and Disabled £5.00 Children under 2 free. Season tickets available.

The walled garden is a magnificent 4-acre site which has been excitingly re-landscaped. There is a sensory garden, great drifts of bulbs and wild flowers, vistas, a one world garden, paddocks for the little brown sheep, a huge viewing mound, dramatic aviaries, a guinea pig village, sculpture and living willow features. Much to delight children, keen gardeners and art lovers alike.

Local to the facility is the Market Village of Brigg with a Tesco, Market Place and numerous cafes and public house if you fancy somewhere bigger for lunch. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic.
