Avantime 25th Anniversary Weekend

FRIDAY 24TH JULY- Guests travelling a long distance will check into the Kegworth Hotel and Conference Centre which is the official event hotel. DE74 2DF. To book rooms use code Car10 via this link-

The code takes 10% off the standard room rates. No payment is taken until the day of arrival and the booking can be cancelled up to 2pm the day before arrival. The dinner, bed and breakfast room rate is the most cost effective option.

SATURDAY 25TH JULY (morning)- Guests will gather from 9am at the Tappers Hawker pub in Long Eaton. NG10 1GR. An attempt to assemble a full lineup of Matra cars from Djet to Avantime will be made. If achieved this will be a UK first in one place at one time. During the morning the event will be visited by the MP for Erewash, Mr Adam Thompson, the Long Eaton Mayor, the Chairman of the towns Twinning Association, plus the local press and possibly TV. There will be an optional walk to Romorantin Place, which is the towns nod to its twinning with the place where all our cars were made, for a photo opportunity. Lunch orders can be placed from 11am.

SATURDAY 25th JULY (afternoon)- At midday, lunch (at guests expense), will be available for those going on the optional excursion to The Heights of Abraham (HOA) in the afternoon. DE4 3NT. https://www.heightsofabraham.com/. Guests on this excursion should leave Long Eaton by 1.30pm latest. HOA costs £18pp and has reserved parking for us. The attraction features a cable car and underground caverns. Participants should leave by 5pm in order to either drive home or go to the event hotel.

SATURDAY 25TH JULY (evening)- The evening will feature an anniversary dinner in a function room at the hotel. The room will be available from 4pm for event participants whether they are staying at the hotel or not. The room will feature an Avantime on display plus a video screen showing Matra and Avantime videos plus the opportunity to play Grand Turismo, featuring an Avantime, on a PlayStation 5. Dinner will be served at 7.30. It will feature a Fork Buffet. This will cost non hotel residents £25.95 payable to the hotel on the night. Hotel residents with the dinner, bed and breakfast room rate will pay a supplement of just £3.45 to the hotel on the night or at checkout.

SUNDAY 26TH JULY- After breakfast, we will drive in convoy at around 9am to the Aeropark Aviation museum at East Midlands Airport. DE74 2PR. http://www.eastmidlandsaeropark.org/. Those who are attending the weekend just on Sunday are invited to start their day at the hotel and drive with us in convoy to the Aeropark. The park costs just £5pp to enter and we will be parking our cars within the aircraft display area and close to the runway observation area. The museum is providing the catering in the form of a cafe plus mobile food outlets. At around 4pm the event weekend will draw to a close and people can go home having made new Matra friends and with, hopefully, good memories.
